All efforts are guided by and in adherence to the recommendations distributed by the CDC.

Please note that for the safety of our patients, their families, and our staff, there are certain restrictions in place regarding on-site visitation at Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital.

  • These restrictions have been implemented in compliance with updated corporate and state regulations to further reduce the risks associated with COVID-19.
  • Options for telehealth visitation are continuously evaluated so that our patients can remain connected to their loved ones.
  • Alternate methods of communication for other services may be offered when deemed clinically appropriate.

For specific information regarding these changes and limitations, please contact us directly.

Adolescent Psychiatry Treatment Program

Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital provides developmentally appropriate services for children and adolescents in need of psychiatric support. Our goal is to support our young patients and their families as they work to heal from mental illness.

About Our Adolescent Psych Program

The team at Erlanger understands the unique needs of young people in the treatment setting. The interventions and supports we use for treatment planning reflect each child’s or adolescent’s individual strengths and challenges.

Some of the more common concerns we treat are:

  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Mood swings
  • Destructive anger
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Behaviors that pose a potential danger to oneself or others
  • Suicidal thoughts
Our Treatment Modalities

The length of stay for youth who heal at Erlanger varies based upon the level of care that is required. However, each patient will have access to the following services during their time with us:

Individual Therapy: In a one-on-one setting, youth process the successes and setbacks of treatment, set and monitor goals, and receive unconditional support from a social worker or other clinician.

Family Therapy: Social workers provide as-needed family therapy that enhances positive communication, and encourages family members to support patients as they heal.

Group Therapy: In group therapy, participants build positive peer relationships, practice social skills, and support one another.

Medication Management: If needed, youth will have regular access to psychiatric services to monitor the dosage and effectiveness of any prescribed medications.

Discharge Planning: When a child or adolescent is ready to leave Erlanger, our staff will create a plan for continued success. Whether that’s a step-up or step-down in level of care, families will be briefed on recommendations for the patient’s aftercare.
