Increased Precautions We're Taking in Response to the Coronavirus
As updates on the impact of the coronavirus continue to be released, we want to take a moment to inform you of the heightened preventative measures we have put in place at Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital to keep our patients, their families, and our employees safe. All efforts are guided by and in adherence to the recommendations distributed by the CDC.

Please note that for the safety of our patients, their families, and our staff, on-site visitation is no longer allowed at Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital.

  • This restriction has been implemented in compliance with updated corporate and state regulations to further reduce the risks associated with COVID-19.
  • We are offering visitation through telehealth services so that our patients can remain connected to their loved ones.
  • Alternate methods of communication for other services are being vetted and may be offered when deemed clinically appropriate.

For specific information regarding these changes and limitations, please contact us directly.

CDC updates are consistently monitored to ensure that all guidance followed is based on the latest information released.

  • All staff has received infection prevention and control training.
  • Thorough disinfection and hygiene guidance has been provided.
  • Patient care supplies such as masks and hand sanitizer are being monitored and utilized.
  • Temperature and symptom screening protocols are in place for all patients and staff.

  • CDC informational posters are on display to provide important reminders on proper infection prevention procedures.
  • We are in communication with our local health department to receive important community-specific updates.

The safety of our patients, their families, and our employees is our top priority, and we will remain steadfast in our efforts to reduce any risk associated with COVID-19.

The CDC has provided a list of easy tips that can help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then immediately dispose of the tissue.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Admissions

At Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital, our commitment to superior service starts with our stress-free admissions experience. Our streamlined process is designed to get you into treatment as quickly and efficiently as possible, with all necessary assurances to confirm the highest quality of care.

Our Admissions Criteria

At Erlanger, we want to connect you with the comprehensive personalized treatment that will help you to live the life that you desire and deserve. For this reason, one of the first steps in the admissions process is to determine whether our hospital is the best place for you.

All admissions decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. To be considered for placement with us, however, you must meet the following general criteria:

  • Have a primary diagnosis of a mental health disorder
  • Can participate in, and benefit from, our services
  • Do not need acute medical care, isolation due to infection, or hospice services
  • Have no recent history of violence towards staff

Once we’ve confirmed your eligibility according to these criteria, you’ll complete a more detailed assessment. The results of this assessment will form the basis of your personalized treatment plan.

If at any point in the admissions process we determine that you would be better served by another provider, we’ll work with you and your family to make the most suitable referral.

Patients with Medical Concerns

If your mental health needs are accompanied by certain medical concerns, your admission to Erlanger may require approval by our on-call medical provider. The following are situations that may prompt this approval process:

  • You need oxygen, a catheter, or other medical devices
  • You require physical, occupational, or speech therapy
  • You are transferring from an intensive care unit or acute medical floor

The reason for this additional approval step is to ensure that we are aware of the full scope of your needs, and are prepared to provide you with the care and support that you deserve.

As with our general admissions criteria, if we determine that Erlanger is not the best option for you due to your medical needs, we’ll work with you and your family to make an appropriate referral.
