Intensive Outpatient Program

Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) provides you with ongoing clinical support as you pursue a healthy, independent lifestyle.

Currently offered as a telehealth service, our IOP consists of three hours of treatment per day. Most IOP patients will attend these virtual sessions three days per week. When you are not participating in IOP sessions, you can attend school, work, or perform other daily living activities.

Why Choose IOP

IOP at Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital may be right for you if you meet one of the following criteria:

  • You have completed a higher level of care, such as inpatient treatment or a partial hospitalization program (PHP), but you need continued support.
  • You need more intensive support than typical outpatient therapy provides, but you do not need the high level of structure and support offered via inpatient programming or PHP.

Group Therapy

Groups are the main method of treatment in IOP at Erlanger Behavioral Health Hospital. During these virtual group sessions, you will gain valuable insights into important topics. You will also have an opportunity to share your thoughts and learn from others who are in similar situations.

Telehealth Services

Telehealth allows us to deliver the same personalized, compassionate treatment you would typically take part in in person from the safety and comfort of a virtual environment.

Patients who have medical considerations, long distances to travel, or other responsibilities that may prohibit them from driving to our hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, can benefit from this convenient service.

One of our esteemed clinicians oversees all virtual group therapy sessions. Each session has a maximum number of participants. If we exceed that number, we will form breakout groups to ensure that each patient has an opportunity to fully engage and have their voice heard.

We will even help manage your medication through the power of technology. Our telehealth IOP includes virtual medication management sessions with a psychiatrist.

Aftercare Planning

Throughout your time in virtual IOP, your treatment team will develop a thorough plan to guide you after you transition out of our care. Your discharge plan will document your progress and identify the resources that will support your continued success.
